Signs You’re Operating from Performance, Not Power

There’s a version of success that looks good on the outside, but quietly erodes your energy on the inside.

You’re doing all the “right” things. Showing up. Getting results. Holding it all together.
But it feels… off.
Like, no matter how much you achieve, it’s never quite enough.
Like you have to hold your breath just to hold it all up.

If that resonates, it’s possible you’re not actually leading from your true power.
You’re performing.

Performance vs. Power: What’s the difference?

Performance energy is rooted in proving—proving you’re capable, worthy, good enough, responsible, high-vibe, spiritual enough.

It looks like:

  • Doing what’s expected instead of what’s true

  • Pushing through fatigue or intuition

  • Hustling to meet an invisible bar you keep raising

  • Looking confident while feeling disconnected

  • Checking the “alignment” boxes but still feeling out of sync

Power, on the other hand, comes from embodiment.

It’s quiet, clear, and deeply rooted.

It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about how you feel while doing it.

True energetic power doesn’t chase or prove. It simply is.

Why overachievers slip into performance mode

High-achieving women are rewarded early in life for being impressive. You likely learned that praise, love, and safety came from being the best, being polished, and being dependable.

So you became excellent at performing, at managing perception, controlling outcomes, and showing up as who you thought you should be.

And that served you… until it didn’t.

Because performance is exhausting.
And eventually, your soul will stop tolerating being muted just to make things work.

Client story: She looked powerful, but wasn’t leading from power

My client, Raven, was an intuitive business owner who had built an incredible brand. She was magnetic online, articulate in client calls, and constantly “in demand.”

But behind the scenes, she felt drained. Disconnected from her creativity. Quietly resentful of her schedule. She kept saying, “I don’t know what’s wrong. I have everything I asked for.”

What we uncovered was that she was still running a performance pattern—trying to hold everything together, make sure everyone else felt safe, and keep her energy “spotless” so she wouldn’t lose momentum.

Her power wasn’t missing. It was buried under pressure.

When we cleared the deeper energetic patterns and gave her permission to lead from softness, truth, and stillness, she said,
“I stopped performing and started showing up. And my business didn’t collapse, it expanded.”

Signs you’re in performance, not power:

  • You feel anxious about being seen unless you feel 100% “on”

  • You’re deeply productive, but don’t feel lit up by what you’re doing

  • You collapse when you finally rest because you’ve been holding so much

  • You shrink your truth or voice so you won’t disrupt the peace

  • You say yes when you mean maybe, or even no

  • You fear slowing down because you’re scared that momentum will disappear

How to shift back into your true power:

Start with sensation
Power isn’t a mindset—it’s a feeling. Ask: “What does power feel like in my body today?” It might be grounded. Spacious. Radiant. Clear. Let that guide your actions.

Get honest about what’s performative
Where are you doing things just to maintain an image? What would feel more true—even if it’s messier, slower, or quieter?

Clear the proving energy
Use energy clearing or Akashic Records work to release programs like “I have to be perfect to be safe,” “I can’t slow down,” or “I have to be who they expect me to be.”

Choose your soul over your strategy
When you lead from alignment—not obligation—your energy becomes magnetic. Your presence becomes the transmission. That’s real power.

You don’t need to work harder to be powerful—you just need to be more you

Your energy doesn’t need to be polished to be potent.
Your truth doesn’t need to be performative to be worthy.
And your presence doesn’t need to be loud to be felt.

Power comes from the inside out.
And the more you let go of who you think you should be, the more your soul can take the lead.
