How to Stop Second-Guessing Your Intuition
May 06, 2025
You get a nudge.
A whisper of knowing.
An idea that lights something up in your chest.
It feels clear—until five minutes later when your brain kicks in with:
“But what if that’s not the right move?”
“Am I making this up?”
“What if this is just fear… or worse, delusion?”
If you’re tired of that frustrating loop where your intuition speaks—but your mind immediately shuts it down—you’re not alone.
Many of the most intuitive, self-aware, and spiritually connected women I know struggle with the same thing.
Not because they aren’t intuitive, but because they’ve been conditioned to distrust themselves.
So let’s talk about what second-guessing actually is, why it happens, and how to reconnect with your intuition in a way that feels grounded, clear, and real.
Why we second-guess our intuition (even when it’s right)
You were probably never taught to trust your inner voice.
Most of us were raised in systems that prioritized logic, performance, and external validation.
From a young age, we were rewarded for being “good,” “rational,” “practical”—not for listening to our energy or our body’s wisdom.
Over time, we learned that “gut feelings” were unreliable. That emotion needed to be reasoned away. That if we couldn’t prove it, we couldn’t trust it.
So now, when your intuition speaks up, it’s often followed by a reflexive override—second-guessing born from fear, not truth.
Client story: Building trust again
One of my clients, Jordan, used to get strong intuitive downloads—but she always overrode them.
She’d say, “I know what I feel… but I don’t want to make the wrong move.”
So she’d overanalyze every decision, poll her friends, or wait for a sign—even when the answer was already within her.
Through energy work and Akashic Record sessions, we uncovered past-life trauma around being punished for following her truth. Once we cleared those imprints and worked to rebuild her connection with her body and higher self, something shifted.
She stopped outsourcing her decisions.
She stopped needing guarantees.
And she started moving with a level of clarity she hadn’t experienced in years.
“It’s not that I stopped being scared,” she said. “It’s that I started trusting myself more than the fear.”
How to tell the difference between intuition and fear
A lot of people confuse intuitive guidance with fear because they feel similar.
Both can feel urgent, especially when something big is at stake.
But they’re actually very different once you learn to distinguish their tone.
✨ Intuition feels clear, calm, and neutral—even if what it tells you is surprising or uncomfortable
✨ Fear feels anxious, loud, and rushed—often catastrophizing or future-tripping
✨ Intuition lands in your body—a gut feeling, heart knowing, or peaceful drop-in
✨ Fear spins in your head—a looping narrative full of “what ifs”
If you slow down and ask yourself, “Where is this coming from—my body or my mind?” you’ll start to notice the difference more easily over time.
5 ways to stop second-guessing your intuition
-
Ground before you decide
If your energy is scattered or overwhelmed, intuitive guidance will be harder to access. Use breathwork, grounding meditations, or time in nature to get centered before asking for guidance. -
Start small and build trust
You don’t have to make massive life changes to practice intuition. Start by asking small, everyday questions and noticing the nudges—what to eat, when to rest, which route to take. The more you follow those hits, the more your intuition strengthens. -
Notice what happens when you override it
Keep a journal of moments where you had a feeling, ignored it, and later realized it was right. Not from judgment, but from curiosity. This is one of the fastest ways to build data and confidence. -
Clear the noise
If you’re energetically entangled with other people’s opinions or fears, your own voice will be harder to hear. Energetic clearing practices—like cord-cutting, aura cleansing, and energy reclamation—can help restore your clarity. -
Ask your body, not just your mind
When you’re trying to decide something, ask yourself how each option feels in your body. Does your chest tighten? Does your energy drop? Or do you feel expanded, light, curious, at ease? Your body is a compass—start using it.
Your intuition isn’t broken—you just haven’t been taught how to hear it
Your inner wisdom is alive.
It’s always speaking.
It just needs your presence, your curiosity, and your willingness to trust again.
You don’t need another outside opinion.
You need to remember: your soul knows.
And the more you trust that…
The louder, clearer, and more powerful your intuition becomes.
